A month ago, I vanished from the internet to get married in Ireland. What I discovered during that digital detox was... complicated.

Not the wedding or vacation part, that was very uncomplicated and frankly, awesome. But coming back to work after a real break isn't just about missing the conversations or rediscovering your purpose. It's about seeing your work – and your industry – with fresh eyes. And honestly? Some of what I'm seeing isn't pretty.

I came back to posts from some very talented people in my network who've been impacted by restructuring and relentless headlines about Fortune 500s implementing RTO mandates.

It was a little hard to jump back in knowing how much turmoil there is in the labor market right now but as I forced myself to dig in, I remembered why I'm doing this anyway.

Good employers deserve to win. Terrible ones deserve to lose. And right now, the companies building genuinely great remote cultures aren't just surviving, they're pulling away from the pack while their competitors argue about desk occupancy rates.

The headlines skew negative because that's what gets clicks. But that makes celebrating the organizations getting this right more important than ever. While some companies retreat to the comfort of "the way we've always done things," others are building the future of work.

The pessimists are loud, but they don't get to write the ending.

The future belongs to the people building it.
