Hey Reader,

A Remote Job Board... Hold the Bias

It always bothers me when we base modern tech on outdated formats. Resumes and cover letters were built to be printed and job boards are built on a classified ad system that just doesn't make sense anymore. These broken systems survive based on inertia and it's time to give them a big shove.

The Current Job Board Hellscape

Let's be honest about what job hunting looks like right now. You spend 20 minutes crafting the perfect search for "remote marketing manager," only to deal with:

  • Companies that list "remote" but buried in paragraph 12 mention their "collaborative office culture"
  • Ghost job postings that waste your time
  • Pay-to-win systems that promote the wrong employers

What We're Building (And Why It Matters)

For the past few months, I've been heads-down building something different: the Remotivated Job Board. But here's the twist:

No posting fees. None. Zero.

Instead, we're curating opportunities from companies we've personally vetted for their remote-first culture, then serving them to you fast.

  • Genuine remote-first policies (not remote-washing)
  • Cultural alignment with remote work values (trust, outcomes, flexibility)
  • Track record of remote employee success (retention, growth, satisfaction)
  • Leadership that actually "gets it" (no stealth RTO mandates lurking in the shadows)

The Speed Factor

Here's where it gets interesting. Because we're not waiting for companies to pay posting fees or navigate our submission process, we can surface opportunities within minutes of them going live.

Picture this: A culture-first startup just approved their new remote marketing role at 2 PM. By 2:15 PM, it's live on our board and in your inbox (if it's a match for your job search).

Putting you at the front of the line for the best remote jobs.

What We Need From You

Here's where I need your brilliant collective brain power. We're building this FOR the remote work community, which means it should solve YOUR biggest pain points. So tell us:

What features would make this actually useful for your job search?

Some ideas we're already considering:

  • Alert system for your dream companies when they post new roles based on criteria you set
  • Employer profiles and REMOTE Score built into each job posting and filters
  • Filtering based on hiring locations AND hiring time zones

But what are we missing? We've removed the bias but beyond that, what frustrates you about current job boards and how should we solve for it?

Reply and tell us what you want to see. Seriously. We read every response.

The Bigger Picture

This isn't just about building another job board. It's about creating infrastructure that supports the remote work revolution.

When truly remote-first companies can connect with remote-native talent efficiently, beautiful things happen. Projects launch faster. Teams gel quicker. Culture strengthens.

What's Next

Our beta launch will be exclusively for Work is a Verb subscribers (hey, that's you!). The date is still TBA, I'm working on but it's on the top of my to-do list every day so I promise I won't keep you in suspense for too long.

But first, we need to know: What would make this job board actually worth your time?

Hit reply and tell us what you want to see. Or what you're tired of seeing.

🏛️ California Could Save $225 Million Annually with Remote Work
A new California state audit found that allowing state employees to work from home three days a week could save taxpayers up to $225 million per year and reduce office space by nearly a third. The audit criticized Gov. Gavin Newsom's return-to-office mandate, finding it was implemented without using data on worker productivity or gathering information about office space needs and costs.

Work is a Verb A weekly(ish) newsletter by Hey Reader, A month ago, I vanished from the internet to get married in Ireland. What I discovered during that digital detox was... complicated. Jeff Bezos rented out an entire city and he didn't even have the coolest June wedding in Europe. Can you imagine? Not the wedding or vacation part, that was very uncomplicated and frankly, awesome.
